Roach Howard Smith & Hunter Celebrates 50th Anniversary; L.T. Barton Turns 60

DALLAS Texas – Roach Howard Smith & Hunter founder Richard Roach sold his first insurance policy in 1955 using the same philosophy that guides Roach Howard Smith & Barton today: Clients come first.

Roach's customer-centric focus catapulted the Dallas insurance agency from a one-man shop in the back room of a Garland feed store to a leading independent insurance brokerage firm and an Assurex Global partner. Today Roach Howard Smith and Hunter has more than 70 employees and generates nearly $75 million annually in premiums.

Roach Howard Smith & Hunter’s Fort Worth office is also celebrating a significant anniversary. L.T. Barton Insurance which merged with Roach Howard Smith & Hunter in 1998 but still operates under the L.T. Barton name is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The agency was founded in 1945 by L.T. Barton. His grandson Bart Tucker is president of the Fort Worth office and chief financial officer for Roach Howard Smith & Hunter.
