RHSB Launches Groundbreaking System to Accelerate Producer Development
Release Date: September 2009
Dallas-Based Insurance Firm Implements Rapid ‘Learning Paths’ Process for P&C Producers
DALLAS (September 8, 2009) – Roach Howard Smith & Barton (RHSB), a leading independent insurance brokerage firm and Assurex Global partner, announces the launch of an innovative, highly accelerated development process for Property & Casualty (P&C) Producers. This rapid development process is called a “Learning Path.” It will cut the time it takes new P&C Producers to become fully proficient in their role by at least 30%.
“This initial Learning Path and similar ones for other key positions in our company are critical to our growth plans for the future,” says Karen K. Farris, CPCU, ARM, RHSB President and CEO. “They will differentiate our firm from other agencies in our industry, giving us a real advantage in competing for both talent and clients.”
A 12-member team at RHSB created the P&C Producer Learning Path using the Learning Path Methodology, a rigorous and disciplined approach that applies quality improvement, change management and accelerated learning techniques to the learning process to achieve dramatic results in a very short period of time. The P&C Producer Learning Path replaces long periods of trial-and-error learning with structured activity and follow-up including coaching and scheduled evaluations. The new Learning Path is structured so that new P&C producers begin to interact with clients sooner and sequences sales activities from simple to complex to promote early success.
Farris described the new Learning Path as a “win-win” situation for RHSB and its key stakeholders. “Clients get a higher quality experience because the producers calling on them are more knowledgeable and develop deeper expertise sooner,” says Farris. “Producers have greater job satisfaction because they have a faster, more focused development path, more clear and frequent feedback about how they’re progressing, and improved earning potential early in their career. Our firm gets sales growth, increased client satisfaction, and an effective recruiting tool – all while reducing employee development costs and increasing employee retention.”
