RHSB Implements Summer Intern Program

The Insurance industry struggles to bridge a talent gap.  A study conducted by Columbus State Community College’s (CSCC) Center for Workforce Development found that more than 17,000 new jobs in the insurance sector will need to be filled in the next five years as baby boomers begin to retire, leaving behind a critical shortage of skilled workers.

Roach Howard Smith & Barton (RHSB) Insurance Agency has implemented a Summer Internship Program. Our program is a way to educate the next generation about the insurance industry by giving them hands-on experience. Ultimately, we hope to create advocates for the industry and our agency while building a pipeline for future employees.

Adam Harmon is the first to join our new program as a summer intern. Adam is a junior at Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business where he is majoring in Accounting and minoring in Energy.

During 10 weeks this summer, Adam will be spending time with each department at RHSB in order to get a 360 view of agency operations with an emphasis on new business marketing, commercial lines, and risk services.
