Julia Miller Spracklen, J.D. joins Roach Howard Smith & Barton
Julia Miller Spracklen, J. D. joins Roach Howard Smith & Barton as Vice President of Risk Services. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing the employees and function of the Risk Services department. The Risk Services department provides our clients a consultative analysis of their business and designs a comprehensive risk management plan to address risk issues and provide proactive and cost effective solutions. Solutions could include recommended organizational changes, policy/procedure changes, safety training, as well as insurance. Julia will oversee services we provide clients including claims oversight, claims reviews, claims audits, loss control coordination, and loss trend analysis. Julia will also effectively liaison with our insurance carrier partners to maintain or further develop relationships and help achieve department and organization revenue growth goals, through customer retention and department and/or organization collaboration.
She joins RHSB from Travelers where she was Senior Claims Counsel, serving as Technical Escalation Manger for Southwest, South Central, and Midwest Regions. As such, she worked in the area of management liability claims. She supervised regional adjustors and mentored claims counsels in areas of coverage, resolution strategy, exposure analysis, negotiations, and defense cost management. Her extensive involvement with underwriters, agents, and insureds to develop proper claims handling strategy is valuable in her new position with RHSB.
Julia earned her Juris Doctor degree from Baylor Law School. During her time at law school, she had internships with the Killeen City Attorney and United States Attorney’s Office in Waco. She served in the United States Army in Heidelberg, Germany.
